SpaceAudit for macOS · last updated 22 August 2026
Summary
SpaceAudit does not collect any data. It contains no networking code, so there is
no mechanism by which it could transmit anything — not deliberately, and not by
accident.
SpaceAudit reads the name, size, location and modification date of files in folders you explicitly grant it through the standard macOS open panel. It reads file metadata only. It does not open, read or interpret the contents of your documents.
For certain locations it reads small property-list files that macOS itself
maintains, purely so items can be given meaningful names — for example reading a
simulator's device.plist so a folder appears as "iPhone 17 Pro
(iOS 26.5)" rather than an unreadable identifier.
Nothing. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier, no account system and no network request of any kind.
Two things, both on your Mac only:
SpaceAudit moves items to the Trash and nothing else. It has no permanent-delete capability. Emptying the Trash is always your action.
There are none. SpaceAudit uses no third-party SDKs, frameworks or dependencies.
SpaceAudit is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be a clarification rather than a change in what is gathered.
